Abstract

This scientific article deals with research that had the general objective of reflecting on the development of creative skills integrated with technical skills, expanding the possibilities of the teaching-learning process of students of the Fundamental Piano Child Course of the Maranhão
State School of Music Profª Lilah Lisboa de Araújo - EMEM, with the teacher as mediator of this process. The study was based on Swanwick's model C (L) A (S) P (1979, 2003, 2014), in the
works of França (2000, 2008, 2013), Gainza (1987, 1988), in which the composition, appreciation and performance are understood as central modalities of the students' comprehensive musical making. The applied methodology was the case study with a qualitative standard. It is concluded that the practice of creative skills puts students at the center of the teaching - learning process and
favors the musical development of children, however, it is not part of the programmatic content of the Course in question. It is expected that this study will collaborate with piano teachers, making the classroom a space that promotes musical discourse, maintaining the stimulus, interest and pleasure in students' instrumental learning.
