This scientific article deals with a research that aimed to determine whether a study of the soundscape of a public institution contributes to the perception of the influence of the characteristics of the acoustic environment on the level of attention of students during classes, focusing on the trajectory of the music education in Brazil, knowledge about soundscape, acoustic ecology and pedagogical perspectives in sound education. Through the study carried out at the Centro de Ensino Liceu Maranhense (CELM), based on the use of qualitative methodology, this investigation was carried out, which found that the school's soundscape is composed of varied and intense noises which were perceived and recorded by the students. students; revealed that the sound pressure levels measured in the classroom are above the recommended in official documents; found that most professionals classified the school acoustic environment as soundly polluted. It is concluded that the conditions of the school acoustic environment compromise attention, communication and, consequently, the students' learning. It is hoped that the reality presented can be transformed, especially if the musical and sound education initiatives, developed throughout the investigation, become every day and contribute to the formation of potential listeners, capable of collaborating for the reconstruction of soundscapes. more healthy.
