This article focuses on theorizing theater, with a view to its operational framework in school as a strategy of promoting learning and the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs (SEN), in general, and students with mental disabilities (DM), in particular. To this end, we reassemble the origin of theater, providing some definitions of this multidisciplinary art, its legal framework in the context of SEN and outlining its specificities, namely, the theatrical tools in the classroom, the teacher-director, the team behind the scenes and the importance of the role.
