Abstract

This report addresses the practice of Sociodrama in schools, specifically in Dramatic Expression classes. Over the last ten years of teaching, I realized that not only did the theater practices lead to an improvement in the assimilation of knowledge, but they allowed certain students to adjust their emotions, their behavior and attitudes in relation to certain school situations. The area of dramatic Expression is defined as a space and an educational tool that allows the development of the school curriculum in various fields such as arts education, body expression, language or literature, and because of its relational and interpersonal characteristics, it is in fact a powerful tool for the development of social and personal skills. The Dramatic Play is an interesting tool for all teachers, not just for the professionals of the areas involved. Dramatic activities require team work, group work, which may favor any kind of class. These situations in which the group is focused on an activity, on a game, help improve socialization and communication aspects, whenever they’re proposed under an environment and a space which are safe for the student. It is in this safe environment that Sociodrama comes in, based on the discipline of Dramatic Expression. This report aims to illustrate how the practice of Sociodrama can be harnessed in the educational project of a school, and how it can be part of that same curriculum in the following years.
