This work presents a review on the body language during the Middle Ages, that is, the communication via the movements or attitudes of the body during the period of history between classical antiquity and the Italian Renaissance. Thus, it considers the body's shape and expression taking into account cultural processes and tensions between the consecrated and the profane. Studies by Le Goff, Foucault and Bakhtin offered authoritative guidelines for this review.
