Abstract

The Argentine cultural field in the sixties and seventies showed a marked transformation that affected the diverse artistic practices. The national film featured an aesthetic renewal, manifesting a reflection on the expressive medium at the intersection of foreign appropriations and local specificities. The purpose of this paper is to make a film analysis of Argentine experimental short film in the period, taking as reference foreign exponents. To do this, we will first examine the theoretical characteristics of experimental film and study the cultural and historical conditions of possibility and emergence of that film in our cinematography. Then, the analytical section will address three trends within experimental cinema –experimental-animation cinema; structural film and avant-garde cinema.
