Representation and the passage of time: the historical portrait

Abstract

The research we have developed analyzes a set of portraits that belongs to the official art collection of Region de Murcia, and that are a good example of the growth of the History studies and the genre of portraiture that happened during the XIX century. In this context, three examples of history portraits are preserved in the collection of Region of Murcia, where former relevant people have been reconstructed by later artists trying to fit the image they had about the characters.
