Departing from the interdisciplinary condition inherent on the development of contemporary musical composition, an approach is made to composition processes using the european Portuguese language sonorities. It’s about “Eternidade”, on the José Luís Peixoto’s poem “Explicação de Eternidade”, where the recitation gives all the sound structure for the construction of the musical work. There are then focused aspects surrounding the musical creation, in search of a compositional system that respects the intonation, stress, rhythm, and other features of the European Portuguese. To this end, the different dialects in Portugal are studied, according to Cintra (1983), seeking to develop tools that allow to merge the spoken language in it’s “musicality”.
