INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Article TEMPLATE

Authorship, responsibility and originality

The authorship of an article is reserved for researchers who have contributed substantially to the design, development and writing of the manuscript, and who accept responsibility for its content. To assign authorship, researchers must comply with all criteria defined by the APA, namely: substantial contribution to the formulation of the problem, conception / design of the investigation, data collection, and statistical analysis and interpretation of the results; participation in the writing or critical review of the article; and, review and approval of the content of the final version of the manuscript to be submitted. The accuracy and accuracy of the content of published articles are the sole responsibility of the authors. Authors are also responsible for obtaining written permission to reproduce materials that have been previously published and that wish to be reproduced in the submitted article.

Peer review process

ERAS adopted the peer review arbitration system to which the entire content of the magazine must be submitted. In order to facilitate the understanding of this whole process, a detailed FLUXOGRAM with the steps of the peer review process adopted by ERAS follows:

In short, this process begins when the authors submit the manuscript to ERAS and automatically (via the internal notification system), the authors are informed of the receipt of their manuscript by ERAS. Then, the editor verifies whether the manuscript fulfills the required requirements, with regard to the standards, mission and scope of the journal and, through this analysis, notifies the authors of that first analysis and decision. Then, when the manuscripts are accepted, in this first phase, the editor asks the reviewers (who must indicate relevant published works that have not yet been cited in the manuscripts) of the specific areas (specialists of recognized national and international academic-scientific merit) to proceed with their Review and giving indication (via filling in the form in use on the Open Journal System platform) to the editor about the decision to be taken. The editor, in turn, decides between three possibilities, namely: 1. accept for publication (without requesting changes or recommendations for improvement); 2. Accept for publication (subject to changes and recommendations for improvements indicated by the reviewers and eventually by the editor); 3. Reject (stating the specialized reasons and justifications for this rejection). Any of the decisions will be sent to the respective authors and, as the flow chart (above) indicates, each one of the tasks assigned to him, and the manuscripts accepted under conditions will have to be, after the recommendations for improvement made, sent back to the editor, so that he and the reviewers can assess whether the recommendations for improvement have been fully complied with. Authors who have seen their manuscripts rejected are given the information that this decision does not imply that they cannot resubmit the article to ERAS, as long as it is rewritten, redone or supplemented. When the manuscripts are accepted, it is communicated (to the corresponding author / main contact) by the editor that their manuscript has been accepted for publication and that it has been sent to the “Editing” section. After this phase is over, the editor sends a corresponding “View Proof” to the corresponding author for validation of the author (s), establishing a deadline for this purpose. When this validation is carried out, the corresponding author sends the “View proof” to the editor so that he can verify and complete this process of scheduling and publishing the manuscript / article and the respective edition. Finally, and automatically, when the edition is published, all authors are notified of it. It should be noted that, invariably, all manuscripts, during review and analysis, are treated confidentially before publication. Only in this phase (publication) is the authorship of the article revealed and various information contained in the Cover Letter, where authors are identified and data of various kinds related such as Conflicts of Interest, Funding Sources, Transfer of Property Rights, Formal Rules are provided and Ethical Conduct.

Ethical Conduct

ERAS adopts and subscribes to the scientific codes of conduct of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Ethical and legal principles must be respected throughout the investigation process, which culminates in the submission of a manuscript for publication. All manuscripts are identified as detecting plagiarism in order to guarantee the academic and scientific identity and integrity of the investigations under analysis. In short, the authors must affirm the respect for the code of conduct and ethical aspects underlying the scientific practice proposed by APA. And, when applicable, the research protocol must be submitted for prior approval by a research ethics committee. The favorable opinion of this commission must be sent together with the Cover Letter in use at ERAS.  Being that ERAS does not promote, does not accept and clearly repudiates less sanctioning practices with respect to ethical principles and standards of research, ERAS, provided it has knowledge of ethically inappropriate practices related to research and research, will proceed legally and in compliance with competent entities, in order to preserve and ensure the current rules in this respect, as well as prevent the publication of research and research when any anomalies or non-compliance in this area are verified. If (and when) any anomaly, malpractice or ethically inappropriate conduct is found in the investigation (even after publication), ERAS will proceed to remove (immediate and informed between parties) the article from its publications, notifying the bases of indexing and others, as well as, and alternatively, when possible and advisable, make the necessary corrections. ERAS will strive to implement and promote good ethical practices in research and research and, when necessary, will publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologize to the parties.

Conflicts of interest

Authors, in order that scientific practice is respected and without external influencing conditions, they will have to identify (in the draft model / cover letter in use at ERAS) personal relationships or economic / commercial interests may constitute potential for conflict of interest, as well as declaring all the relationships and funding for the research provided by individuals, entities or institutions, which will be integrated / published in the article, in the session regarding this subject (see Sources of Funding). The reviewers must, when verified a situation of conflict of interest, inform the editor and, therefore, do not accept the revision of the manuscripts for which this task was requested. They must also maintain and guarantee an unquestionable suitability in the analysis and on matters, subjects or themes (private or institutional) that may possibly jeopardize their participation or, may, directly or directly and significantly, at any time or instance of the review, disturb or skew your analysis.

Sources of financing

All external sources of funding and research grants that have supported the development of the research must be assumed specifically by the authors, with the subsidized author and the complete reference of the project being indicated. This information will be published together with the article on the cover page, immediately after the authors' identification (in a footnote).
